One of the causes of accidents, although rare, is brake failure.Your brakes is definitely one of the parts of your vehicle that is very important.  Unfortunately, out of sight is out of mind.  I have seen this firsthand with my San Diego brakes shop.

Your brakes definitely qualifies as out of sight. But it is the one car part that regular maintenance is a must.  Whether you do it yourself, or hire a San Diego auto repair shop, you have to maintain it.After all, the safety of your life and maybe your family’s life could depend on it.

With that in essence being the case, maintaining your breaks can be quite easy. You can do one of two things, you can take it to a brake repair shop or you can learn how to maintain it yourself.

Either way, the brake fluid level and the brake pad conditions are the two main things to look at.If you follow these two points vigilantly, you will ensure your brakes are safe.

When checking the brake fluid levels all you need to do is locate the fluid reservoir level.  It is usually marked and has a ‘min’ line and a ‘max’ line.  Make sure it isn’t below the ‘min’ line and you should have no problems.

Also check to make sure that your brake fluid is clear and has a yellow color to it.  If it is not, you will have to flush the brakes and replace it with new fluid.

Brake fluids maintenance are the easy part. The difficult part is maintaining your brake pads.  For this, more often than not you will need a brakes repair company like my San Diego brake shop.

Usually the brake pads tell you they need to be replaced when you hear some screeching sounds when you are braking.

If so, have them checked and replaced as soon as possible. Worn brake pads make it difficult to control to a stop.

With your safety and any passengers safety on the line, this is a no brainer. Get it checked and if you have to, go and get your brakes fixed.

Taking and following these 2 maintenance tips will help make sure your car is safe for all driving occasions.
